Welcome! I started this blog as a way to put healthy tips, workout plans, and organizing strategies for busy families all in one place, hence why I named it The Mare Necessities. These are all my necessities for life, and continuing to work towards a more healthy lifestyle while balancing being a full-time attorney, wife, and mom to a spitfire toddler.
My passion has always been running, and in 2009 I entered the world of triathlons. I am a 2x Ironman (Texas 2014 and Arizona 2016), but am still chasing the goal of a Boston Marathon qualifying time. My Bachelor’s degree is in Nutrition Science, and before law school I was a full-time NASM personal trainer. Fitness, training plans, and nutritional information are among my favorite things, and I have always jumped at the chance to convert someone into a runner, triathlete, or fitness enthusiast.
I’m lucky enough to have my husband, Dave, who will join me on my crazy adventures, including signing up for the second Ironman when we had a 6 month old. But hey, it’s so easy to talk yourself out of things, that is, unless you’ve already paid the entry fee…
